ASCP Choosing Wisely Champions Inspire Effective Test Utilization

Mark your calendar for 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7!

That is when three ASCP 2022 Choosing Wisely Champions will give presentations on the effective test utilization initiatives implemented at their respective health systems. The Choosing Wisely Champions' presentations will take place at the ASCP’s 2022 Annual Meeting, Sept. 7-9, in Chicago. Each Champion will highlight patient and organizational outcomes and the collaborative effort of healthcare teams to bring about practice changes that improved test utilization. The presenters are:

Yaolin Zhou, MD, associate professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, head of Molecular Pathology and director of Quality and Test Utilization, East Carolina University (EDU), on behalf of her team at  EDU.

Heather Signorelli, DO, Vice President and Chief Laboratory Officer, HCA Healthcare, will present the results of HCA Healthcare’s Choosing Wisely® initiative.

 Gregory Sossaman, MD, MASCP, System Chair of Clinical Pathology and Service Line Leader, in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Ochsner Health, in New Orleans, will will present the results of Ochsner’s Choosing Wisely® initiative. 
 
ASCP is celebrating its seventh year participating in the Choosing Wisely Champions program in collaboration with the ABIM Foundation. This year, the program is recognizing clinicians, pathologists, laboratory professionals, and clinical teams for their commitment to the Choosing Wisely campaign by disseminating positive stories and inspiring clinicians to apply Choosing Wisely’s principles and recommendations in their practices.
